I went to check a favourite, well established milkweed colony only to see horror. The side of the road had been recently cut. I checked all the broken off pieces I could find and put the inhabitants back on standing milkweed. I found 12 monarch caterpillars on the downed plants!!

This is a community that proudly states they are part of Monarch Mission and puts up little Monarch signs where the side of the road is not to be cut and completely disregarded all that in this spot.

Every year I see many monarchs here, not to mention frogs, lady bugs, wasps, snails, tussock moth and more. Sad day.
