Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 08/16/2022

Number: 4

Monarch Waystation #299 aka the Virginia Living Museum reports eggs found on several common milkweed leaves inside and next to Butterfly Haven exhibit near the Virginia Garden about 2:25pm. After a volunteer shift and lunch nearby I casually searched a few of the milkweed leaves growing along the fence and found scattered eggs. It was not a diligent search of every leaf. I did not see any monachs actively laying eggs the few minutes I was with the milkweeds. There was one adult monarch in the area seen nectaring on composites near the fence at this time, but was probably the same adult seen earlier during lunch [see other sighting submitted for this date and place today].
