Monarch Waystation #271 reports a crisp, new male monarch sighted in the back yard, watched from 10:45 to 10:55 am. It was alternatively nectaring on swamp milkweed blooms and landing on their stalk tips, "grappling" with the upper leaves. These milkweeds grow near the HVAC heat pump unit, and the breezes the fan generates when it's on sways the plants. There was also a natural intermittent breeze that blew. At 10:55 am the monarch moved to the front yard, repeating the nectar + grapple behavior with the golden tropical milkweeds grown in pots. It was seen again in the front yard at 12:40 pm and 3:10 pm out the front window, flying "rounds" and nectaring. Did not have a camera handy, and this male did not stay still for long in any one place.
