Stand of whorled milkweed along the Rio Grande that is often visited by monarchs and where larvae may occur. This site has been reliable to provide habitat for monarchs since I first observed it in 2017. It is provided with year-around flow along the embankment; irrigation and water compact flow began the 1st week of June and will cease following cessation of monsoon rain. The City of Las Cruces wastewater return flow sustains this stand the remaining months.
