Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/20/2022

Number: 3

It's hard to tell how many monarchs have appeared. I have Tropical and Common MW and expanded my garden this year. (At the end of the season I pull all of the Tropical MW, but because of the controversy with TMW, I am going to try and replace with MW appropriate for this area next year. I have checked for eggs and see eggs on lots of plants. Unfortunately, I also see insects that beat the Monarchs to the MW this year. Last year I started harvesting eggs in early August and released over 100 healthy Monarchs by mid-October. This year, I'm just seeing them. I won't be able to harvest until after Sept 5th b/c of travel. I don't see any caterpillars yet.
