Seacliff Park in Leamington about 8 kms north of Point Pelee National Park
This is about the time roosts are seen here, usually last 2 weeks of August.
After seeing today about 2 dz go south through our property decided to check. Rain expected late afternoon so not going into Point Pelee.
27°c daytime high 28. Cloudy, SE wind @12/18kmh.

4:45pm Ariived at N area of Park where roosts are usually seen. Various tree species but mostly oak & maple and those are where we've seen roosts previous years.
4:49pm a monarch arrived flitting from the north. Flitted about branch tips of an oak tree & settled about 30' up on NE side of tree. About 5 minutes later a 2nd monarch arrived from the north, flitted straight to same oak & settled on NE side of tree about 5' lower than 1st monarch. Both pristine.
Always amazed how year after year they choose same trees/branches.
No others arrived. It began raining at 5:30pm. Thunder storm warning. Cold front arriving. Rain expected next 2 days.
