My friend (Larry) and 2 campers (Steve & Colleen) and I counted 38 monarchs in directional flight on a NW Wind at 12 mph along the Lake Huron shoreline at Harrisville State Park from 10 AM to 1 PM. The Wind then turned ENE at 13 mph and the monarchs were not seen the last 40 minutes of the count. I decided to check the other locations in and around Harrisville and added another 26 monarchs nectaring on knapweed, butterfly bush, joe-pye-weed, and goldenrod. Returning home, I added another 4 monarchs nectaring in my joe-pye-weed garden at 4:18 PM. Weather was 100% sunshine with high clouds with the Temperature 66-73F.
