On 08/31/22 I found 6 caterpillars on my common milkweed. On 09/01/22 I found 4 more. They were either 1st or 2nd instar stages.

I currently have 6 chrysalises from caterpillars found earlier in August, between 08/14/22 and 08/18/22. They should eclose next week.

In both instances, we have seen only one or two female butterflies laying eggs prior to finding the larvae. There have been basically no sightings in our area other than in these two instances.
