Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/01/2022

Number: 1

This morning, while I was out watering and filling up seed feeders, I spotted a male Baltimore Oriole on top of one of the shepherd's hooks holding a hummingbird feeder. He was attempting to access our hummingbird feeders, but was unable to do so, as we use the Best 1 feeders, which have very small ports. It's the only feeder we've found to not attract bees.

Baltimore Orioles rarely pass through our area while migrating. It's the first time we've ever seen one in our yard, so it was a real treat. He was absolutely gorgeous. We quickly put out an orange and jelly feeder, but unfortunately, he had already moved on. The hummingbird that has claimed the feeder that the Oriole was attempting to use was quite startled by this visitor and I'm sure was happy that he didn't hang around.
