At Silva Creek Botanical Garden, Silver City, NM, I saw and counted 10 monarch larvae on milkeed. Since I may have previously reported 4, I listed the number as 6. Of all 10,6 on the speciosa, 2 on the subverticillata, and 2 on the asperula. The asperula was pretty much decimated by tussock moths, but they have vacated the plant, so I was surprised to see any.
None of the larvae were babies.
This is an all time record for my observations. I try to regularly monitor this site.
