I placed a new hummingbird feeder against my north-facing sectional window pane on Tuesday, 8/30. I had purchased it from Wild Birds Unlimited and it is a rather small one (approximately 5 inches across) with two nectaring holes in it, but it fits perfectly in the window pane and is eye level with me when I am seated at the table in the breafast nook. It took about a day, but I have since seen several hummingbirds enjoying my "nectar" I make per the Wild Birds Unlimited staffer's instructions. I can't sex the hummingbirds, but I think I actually saw my first ruby-throated one and he/she was at the feeder for a rather long time before flying off. I was fascinated and happy to see them enjoying my "homemade" nectar.
