Sightings report image

Date: 09/03/2022

Number: 6

Several ruby-throats have been nectaring and catching insects to gain weight. This evening a male, 4 females, and at least 1 juvenile male RTHB were going crazy for insects that had just hatched. They couldn't get enough insects fast enough! This picture is a juvenile male with a bright ruby patch at bottom left of his neck. All the zigzag maneuvers were incredible to watch. 90 degree turns and instantaneous flight reversals. Can't beat the entertainment!
