Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/26/2022

Number: 2

Monarch Waystation #271 reports sighting 2 nectaring hummingbirds in the front bed outside the kitchen window about 6:25 pm. One nectared at a Tithonia with its back to the window, so field marks were not obvious. In seconds a 2nd bird came up and began an "aggressive tango" with the first -- they faced and hovered, circled one another over the patio briefly, then one took off northward with the other bird after it. One bird came back in about 30 seconds and briefly nectared at the Tithonia again. I am assuming it was one of the previous pair. I've only seen one or two birds at a time nectaring at plants the whole summer. The whole sighting spanned less than 2 minutes. Camera was upstairs, the birds were too fast to capture details.
