Monarch Waystation #271 reports sighting 2 monarchs nectaring in the front yard during the morning hours. One was definitely a male, which lingered the longest. Another monarch came by but was chased away, the interaction happening too quickly to determine gender of 2nd monarch. The preferred plants for nectar were the "platform" orange flowers of Mexican Sunflower [Tithonia] and Zinnia. The Golden Tropical milkweeds were also used but seemed to be a challenge for the male to nectar from due to their staggered arrangement at the tip of the stem.
