5 fifth instar larvae seen in 3 different gardens on our property. 4 on Common mw & 1 on Swamp mw.
What is different this year is no egg laying seen or eggs found since mid August. For the past 9 years of monitoring we have ALWAYS had last egg laying til Sept. 1st. (Very end of Aug-Sept. 1st) But seeing 5 fifth instars in the wild was surprising & nice to see that they are surviving & thriving in the habitat we provide.
