Monarch Waystation #271 reports an informal tally of easily seen monarch larvae found in the front and back beds on this date. Front beds: 12 second instars, 16 third instars, 2 fourth instars, scattered on 6 potted golden tropical milkweed. Back beds: 2 second instars [that look like they are about to shed to third instars], and 1 fourth instar. These 3 were found on the one golden Tropical milkweed in the bed or on Swamp milkweeds. Photo shows a 4th instar [and also caught a new 2nd instar next to its shed skin], both resting on a Golden Tropical Milkweed growing in a front patio pot.
