Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/05/2022

Number: 2

Our 2 resident adult rubies are still with us. They are all business and quite focused on fueling up and conserving energy. When any of the others encroach on their feeders, each of them makes it clear that they won't tolerate any nonsense. They also have no desire to chase or play. Last year, our alpha resident male left on September 6th. We've picked up nearly 3 inches of rain since yesterday afternoon and more is expected through the night, so I don't think either will leave tomorrow morning, but I know the time is coming. The other resident adult male was just a baby last year and didn't leave until October 7th, so it will be interesting to watch this year.

All of our adult females and juveniles are also still with us; I don't expect them to leave until after the adult males depart. All in all, we should have another solid month or so before the last one departs.
