Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/04/2022

Number: 3

My daughter and I watched lone monarchs flying by our hotel room window, on the 21st floor in downtown Cleveland during the National Air Show. The Blue Angels got rained out, but monarchs were flying across Lake Erie, and fluttering outside our hotel room window in between periods of rain. We would watch them fly over downtown from the direction of Lake Erie, flying straight into our north-facing window. As they reached the window, they would flutter back and forth trying to figure out what to do, then fly straight upwards along the windows in an apparent attempt to fly over the top of the hotel (which is 32 flights).

The monarch migration is definitely on! I have more photos if you want them.
