Sightings report image

Date: 09/07/2022

Number: 1

This is our first Monarch sighting in a number of years. They used to be common summer/fall visitors, breeding on the milkweeds that we grow to attract them. So, this was a very exciting event today. This picture was made in a friend’s garden, eight miles west of our rural residence. The plant is a Rocky Mountain Beeplant (Cleome Serrulata). We had noticed a single Monarch in flight on 9/4/22 at our place but had been unable to make a photograph. We used to also see Tiger Swallowtails but they have been absent along w/ the Monarchs.
