I found this dead caterpillar on my swamp milkweed and had never observed this before. I have photos of my first observed caterpillar in J form on leaf of obedient plant on 09/03 and another photo of same as chrysalis the next day, 09/04. Unfortunately, this chrysalis disappeared 3 days later on 09/07. If you want photos, I can send. I have been seeing Monarchs here since 07/01 and continue to see. Last year, I watched 3 chrysalis come to fruition.
