Beautiful day in the forest, sunshine & 73 degrees with a slight breeze. 12:35pm 5 "new looking" monarchs in the south pollinator garden. Meaning their wings look fresh with bright colors, no tatters, no tears. They were "Pristine Butterflies" :) This area is one of the "sunniest" areas in our forest :)
The floral banquet in this area provides: Oklahoma mix zinnias, masses of pruple hyssop, marigolds, salvias, wild petunias, lantanas, mixed with native grasses: little bluestone.
Purple hyssop is a favorite for our Mi Monarchs. If you have a dry, sandy, sunny, poor soil spot, plant native purple hyssop. It will self sow and your hyssop patch will grow exponentially from year to year.
Happy late summer everyone.
