As noted in several of my previous sightings, I work at the University Park Airport in State College, PA (e.g., 8/28/2022). Occasionaly, especially during the Monarch fall migration, we will see a Monarch Butterfly heading across our airport ramp.
Today, at about 1:40 PM, after our flight 6187 had departed, I noticed a Monarch Butterfly sitting on our ramp. While I tried to approach it slowly, it took flight before I could get close enough to determine its gender. (Sorry, no photo as I don't normally carry a camera while I'm on our ramp.) The butterfly leisurely headed west, eventually climbing high enough to disappear over the top of the west end of our airport terminal.
At the time we had mostly cloudy skies, the air temperature was 72°F and rising, the dew point was 61°F, the humidity was 69% and dropping, winds were light and variable, and the air pressure was 28.62 inches and slowly dropping.
