Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/09/2022

Number: 15

For four days now I have seen up to 15 monarchs at a time in my yard. Can't tell if they are migrating but I think so, since some were distinctive and I think I'm regularly seeing new ones. Most SEEM to be coming from the north and working their way south across my flowerbed, but some just seem to want to stay around. I have seen at least a couple sneaking around in my milkweed (laying eggs?). I found two caterpillars which are pretty good sized. They are busiest at noon. By twilight all have moved on. I have many native plantings including northern blazing star, which is ENORMOUSLY popular with the monarchs.
