Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 09/12/2022

Number: 5

Overcast 58 degrees in the forest this morning. Received an inch of a gentle, warm rain during the night.

1 boy and 4 girls sighted. As a redhead wearing an orange sweatshirt I was worthy of hummingbird approaches and investigations :)

Like clockwork as daylight appeared at 7:07 so did the humner guests.

This isn't a good picture but if you look to the left of the lower part of the red flag near the center of the image, you'll see a "hummingbird blur" :) One of our first arrivals in the South East habitat this morning. This habitat is further from the house, has a higher elevation, and has a red flag flying on the hill/ so it's easy for migrators to see their "welcome" for nectar.

Floral banquets: nasturtiums, petunias, zinnias, salvias, blue lobelias, Cardinal flowers, clematis ragouchi, obedient plants, dicentea luxuriant, phlox.
