Today I went to see if I could find monarchs when the weather was not ideal. The roads were still wet after an early morning light shower. I felt 3 drops as I scouted the wetlands. The sky was gray and overcast. In 40 minutes I found 13 monarchs. Most were sheltering in Joe Pye. Binoculars helped with spotting these as the were hunkering down. 3 or 4 took flight. I did not check the Russians Olives, but focused where I had seen them before. They all looked bright orange, condition 4, newly eclosed.
