Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/14/2022

Number: 41

We had a hard rain last night. This morning we were looking for monarchs between 9:30-11:00 am. Tress, bushes and grass were still very wet. Skies were overcast. While we were there the air became heavier/damper. We were not sure we would see any monarchs. But we did in the same places we saw them yesterday and a week ago today.

We tagged 6 beautiful monarchs. 1 we did not tag because his condition was 1, torn wing edges and was battered.

First time I’ve ever seen 3 monarchs on what looked like 1 plant. We saw 6 within two feet of each other.

Also worth mentioning is we covered maybe 3 acres of prime habitat however it is a 16 acre lot with even better habitat and more secluded that we didn’t even look at.
