The familiar hum of a ruby-throated hummingbird was heard near noon time on 14th September, but I did not see it, and no RTHBs were seen after that on the 14th. With the gentle northerly breeze ongoing and expected at least overnight into 15th September, perhaps the last juvenile decided to take advantage of the tailwind and good conditions and begin its journey south.
The feeder will stay up in case of passers-by. Final observation of last season was on 20th September.
