Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/15/2022

Number: 402

I was on the beach early evening; about 75 degrees with light northerly breeze. A few monarchs flew past but starting around 6:15 they were coming thick & fast. I counted for 20 minutes & got 402. I continued to observe until sunset (about 7:55). Monarchs were flying high; directional flight (south down the coastline).I saw some pairs/trios (one quintet) circle dancing but mostly they were full steam ahead. Flight got lower & numbers tapered off towards sunset. It was a magnificent flight. No photos - too high up to get anything with my cell phone camera.
