Part of tagging activity in Scarborough Ontario.
Conservatively 3-400 monarchs flew by.
Weather: Strong NW winds 20-40 kph and temperatures in mid 20s Celsius and mostly sunny. Humidity was moderate.
About a hundred each of American kestrels and sharp-shinned hawks as well as a few Northern Harriers, Broad-winged hawks and red-tailed hawks were migrating westward along the Lake Ontario north shore as well. Several hundred migrating blue jays were also spotted.
Had a butterfly with what looks like a partial water stain from a glass on the top side of bottom wings. Underside looked normal. See photo.
