Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/15/2022

Number: 6

At 9 p.m. six monarchs were spotted roosting singly in the lower branches of a large green ash tree and a box elder. Temperatures were around 73F earlier in the evening when this group was nectaring on Liatris (Blazing star) or goldenrod in my prairie gardens. I have consistently observed (via flashlight) roosting monarchs every night for a week or more.
