Point Pelee National Park at the Tip 6:13-8
Sunset 7:39
19°c mostly sunny with ESE wind @10/15kmh.
Daytime high 20c. Overnight low 16c.
On drive down to the Tip observed near Sparrow field about 6 monarchs nectaring on Woodland sunflowers. Goldenrod is very plentiful but to date this fall I've seen only 1 monarch in it.
At shuttle stop & down to Tip observed many monarchs in flight. Some flying high like 200' flew from the east to west ocershooting the tp trees, and onxe over Lake Erie on west sude of the Tip they made a sharp u-turn and flew east to interior trees.
No established clusters until around 7:20 when they established a roost(60) about 40' up in a Hackberry tree over Tip Exhibit building & a 2nd (70) about 70' up in a hackberry tree a bit north of where shuttle stops to load/unload visitors.
Another 70 were counted just flying overhead.
In my photos all appeared pristine.
Observations by eye, binoculars and camera & clicker & visitors who came across one of the clusters.
