Two of our resident juveniles and a female (mama) left on their long journey south today. The weather was perfect, nice and sunny, temp in the morning was 73 degrees after a cool night. The wind was perfect for the first leg of their journey, it was out of the NE at 6 MPH with 15 MPH gusts. I was hoping that they wouldn't all leave on the same day...but conditions were perfect and they were gone. Now it's too quite out in my garden...all I had to do was look out a window and see one, either feeding or chasing each other. I'm hoping that migrants will stop for a respite by on their way south. Godspeed to these precious hummingbirds.
