Driving through Iowa, saw 110 and counting more

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 09/20/2022]:

We counted them by driving from Omaha. We counted most of them at that town where I recorded we were. We drove and counted them as we saw them and we were going south.

It was all counted in about an hour of driving.
It was in the afternoon about 1 p.m.

They were nectaring on sunflowers and goldenrods! Mostly sunflowers, they are everywhere in the ditches. Lots of milkweed too. They were flying low and high in the ditches and crossing the roads. Higher than cars.

They were flying south I believe and stopping at flowers.
