As an event for the Owen Sound Field Naturalists, Brian Robin and Audrey Armstrong tagged 96 monarchs at Isaac Lake, north of Wiarton ON. There were hundreds of fresh adults nectaring in a clover/alfalfa meadow near the lake. A warm sunny afternoon, about 26 Celsius. It is the same spot we tagged about 100 last year, August 21, 2021 and seems to be a great spot! Children were netting up to 5 at a time in the insect nets! Really exciting to see such numbers in migration. About 35 club members helped with the netting and learned about the monarch migration and received free seeds for Asclepias incarnata to plant as host plants for monarchs next year.
