Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Number: 20

I’ve been incubating monarch eggs from my milkweed before a predator got them. I could only bring in about 20. I have two cages. They have made their chrysalis and the first five have flown away. A side note is that I ran out of milkweed from my garden. I tried feeding butternut squash. They have loved it and eaten enough to form their chrysalis. I use the large rest cloud cages. This is my third year doing this. I had more this year than ever. Females layed eggs the week of August 22nd. Here in Myrtle Beach SC.
