Cold front arrived.
26°c, 59% humidity with SW wind @ 11/15kmh changing by 8 pm to NW @ 8/14kmh.
Daytime high of 27c real feel of 29c.
Overnight low of 15c.

As usual while driving past Sparrow field observed about 10 monarchs intensely sipping nectar from Woodland sunflowers & a few were flitting about the trees.
5:30 @ Tip shuttle stop.
Clusters already established & many monarchs flitting about above the trees. This area increased from about 75 monarchs & by sunset there was about 500 monarchs in numerous clusters of 10 & 25 with largest of 98 & 160.
Monarchs roosted on Hackberry, vines & bare branches at 10' up to 50'.

5:50- Tip interior & east beach.
Some clusters already established with about 700 monarchs so far. By sunset this area increased to 1000 with numerous clusters of 1's, 3's, 5's up to 30's, 35 or so with a few clusters of 175 & 225. Monarchs roosted on Hackberry, mulberry & dogwood trees, vines & bare branches at 8'up to 25'up.

Most appeared pristine.

Observations by eye, binoculars and camera & clicker.

Note- enormous abundance of goldenrod & NE asters outside the park including Hillman Marsh north of the park. Fields of yellow goldenrod everywhere with spots of purple. We send 'em south fat!
