Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/19/2022

Number: 150

I observed a large number of monarchs along the creek bottom and riperian area in mid-afternoon. It was 100 degrees and breezy. They seemed to be loafing in the understory and casually nectaring on white snake root. As I walked along groups of a dozen or more would flush from the understory, and many were flying prior to my disturbance. I walked up the dry creek for 200 meters and counted aproximately 150 induviduals.
