Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/20/2022

Number: 100

This was taken midday. It was 92 degrees and the butterflies were resting on the north side of a sweet gum tree. Others were flying nearby or in our evergreen bushes. We have had them roost overnight before but this is the first time we have seen them resting midday. We have 6 acres and are in the middle of corn and soybean fields. We have about an acre of mixed vegetation with milkweed and (currently) a lot of flowering goldenrod. They were here the day before as well - but not as many.
