Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/21/2022

Number: 7

From 10:15 until a storm about 4 pm Minarchs were in the yard.
Before noon I couldn’t tag but then tagged five in 80 minutes. Each time I left the yard another RTI Ed.
Before noon the most I saw at once were three.
After the storm I tagged another for six.
Late afternoon before storm I saw two untagged and one was distinctive with a notched wing, so I know there wer at least 7 monarchs in the yard today.
Pretty special to be here to see that.
I used a net for most tagging today which made it easier but I think more stressful for monarchs.
So 10 tagged in four days, multiple Minarchs seen each day
Definitely peak migration.
