Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/21/2022

Number: 4

No Male sighted today RTHB. Last male sighting yesterday 09-20-22 but at least 4 females and 1 juvenile male hatchling ‘Perchy’ remain. Perchy has begun to develop two red feathers on his neck. Can’t help but feel very worried for little Perchy, it’s a hard-knock-life for a new hummingbird. He sits on a swing next to me on our porch and opens his beak crying if I take down whatever feeder he is mooching off. The adult RTHB’s chase Perchy away from feeders(even though I have several on less then a quarter acre) I love my hummingbirds and become distressed and heartached when My male leaves for migration, knowing my females and juveniles will leave in a few days. I pray they go winter in Texas only 11 hours away vs. crossing the gulf. Beware the illegal Love Charm objects made in Mexico where migratory bird laws are not in place… Absolutely a sick minded individual who kills a innocent tiny bird especially a hummingbird.
