the eagle shown (poorly) in image arrived from some distant location across Lake George as an adult loon and a 2/3 grown juvenile set up a raucous series of calls. the eagle made a pass close enough to dip its right foot into the lake water even as the juvenile loon had dived seconds previous. the adult loon stayed on the surface. the eagle continued directly toward us on the eastern shore of Lake George and finally landed in this large pine maybe 200 yards north of us. the eagle stayed on perch even after we tried pics and the two loons continued to swim slowly northward on the lake with intermittent calls. next we will try to find the 2022 loon count data for Lake George and determine how many loon chicks might have been present in early July if only one now.
