Point Pelee National Park at the Tip 4:40-7:20pm Sunset 7:22

17°, cloudy with strong west wind at 19/25 kmh & rain in the
forecast. Rain showers on & off through count.

Daytime high 20°c, overnight low 11c.

Five main areas of roosts.

4:45 Driving by Sparrow Field, just south of & to sign for right turn, observed monarchs flitting about over road & above trees. Already established & increasing by end of evening observed at least 5 separate roost areas. Approx 1350 monarchs.

Tip shuttle stop area observed large cluster of about 500 in east facing front of tree & high up about 30-40 & to the NW of where shuttle stops. This was still in place & increasing at 6:15.
Around 6:30 the west wind increased & whipped into shuttle stop area which normally is a sheltered area.
All the monarchs dispersed except for a lower cluster of about 35. Those that dispersed sought out lower more sheltered areas a touch north of shuttle stop.

Observed a large dense roost in mulberry tree on east side of tree over Tip restroom. About 250. This remained established & increased as sunset drew closer.

Walking further south observed just north of east beach monarchs establishing a roost area in Hackberry & mulberry trees way set into interior & high 60'. Clusters on east side sheltered area. About 200.

Further south at east beach, standing on east shoreline & looking west clusters of 4, 50, 80 & 225 in Hackberry tree & on vines all on east side & somewhat sheltered.

Numerous individuals roosting alone or 2's & 3's seen here & there.

All appeared pristine.
