MONARCHS ON THE MOVE!!
What a beautiful day. On a partly sunny day with temps in the low/mid 60's an a NW Wind @ 20 mph I observed over 1,300 monarchs. From 11-2 was the prime time observing 1 per minute at the peak. The monarchs appeared very healthy seeking out nectaring plants. There was more for sources available @ Robert Moses 80% and Jones Beach had about 60% available. Most of the roosts (Jones Beach) that were forming around 6 pm had 5-15 monarchs. There were a couple with 25 plus as in photo. An amazing day for all who observed.
