Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/25/2022

Number: 5

Expanded observation time from 7:30am until 9pm. Overnight low temperature stayed mid 60 degrees but morning brought light rain and observation time temperature was around 58 degrees with West winds at about 10-14mph. Each hummer seen during this time frame did appear to be different hummers. All were plump and appeared to sit and drink for long periods of time and all flew off southward afterwards. Likewise, as I have observed for the last four days, all were females and four were quite plump, all did appear antsy with my presence. Rain continued off and on all day, with wind gusts in the 20 plus mph range mostly out of the West. Temperature got to a high of about 62 degree in early evening Rainy weather quit about early evening and only a couple hummers were spotted at the five feeders toward evening. Does appear all our resident hummers have departed as no hummers are observed guarding any feeders. Overnight temperatures expected to be mid 50 degrees with cloudy skies and winds just under 10mph.
