Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/28/2022

Number: 11

The weather is calm, high temps to reach the high 80's. This morning several Monarchs are landing on the ground and setting there drinking dew. The temp hit 55° about 8:30 am so movement of the Queens and Monarchs was underway.
I determined with binocs that every single Monarch I focused on was a male. Many are very large--about 4" wingspan!
Is this normal?
11 or more Monarchs just on 3 large Cowpen daisy plants, so more are in my large garden. 30 or more Queens are around, Blue Mist blooms a fav. 3 American Ladies, 1 Comma, several Cabbage Whites.
