Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/28/2022

Number: 4

4 female ruby throated hummingbirds were busy all day nectaring at feeders, black-and-blue salvias and cigar flowers. The nectar level had been near the neck of the bottle and the hummers managed to gulp it down to level in the picture in a few hours. High temperature was about 58. Low was about 40. Strong wind out of the south. Feeding ended at about 7:14 p.m. CDT. About a minute later than previous evening. Have had reports from 2 other hummer watchers, 1 in east-central, and 1 in southern Minnesota that hummers were completely gone 7 - 10 days ago. Seems kind of early for that.
