Made my day to see both a monarch AND a hummingbird!! I was really hoping to see a monarch this year. Our native gardens and milkweed meadow seemed empty of caterpillars this year. Few insects in general...sad. Too much allowable pesticide use is my guess. We don't use it, but I did smell it in the air a few times this summer; found a dead spotted lantern fly on our hydrangea...
