My husband and I were driving up White Mountain Road (east Sierra Nevada), through the canyons before the overlook. It was mid-afternoon on a hot, sunny (clear sky) day, when we saw flying Monarch butterflies, following the road's passageway through the canyons! We counted at least 7 that we saw while driving. All were on the move, not stopping to feed on available flowers in the area - likely in migration mode. It was such a beautiful surprise to see them there! :)
