On October 1, in half an hour starting about 3 pm, I spotted 8 large, pristing monarchs in a large agricultural field. Five of these were captured and tagged. The monarchs were sensing the decline in temperature and when disturbed, three took to flight, flying high and towards an adjacent woodlot to roost.
