There were two locations within the refuge, one with about 10 or so monarchs roosting in cottonwood trees along the main tour road; the larger roost was near the bird blind with the monarchs roosting in the sunflowers along the trail in front of the blind. The photo obviously presents only 3 of the butterflies -- they were scattered among the plants so not in a large concentration.
